ACT President

The American College of Toxicology (ACT) hosts its hallmark event, the ACT Annual Meeting every November. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for toxicologists to attend continuing education courses, interactive Workshops, and Symposia, which deliver state-of-the-art toxicological science supporting human safety, innovative technologies, and regulatory science. In addition, it is an excellent opportunity to network, meet colleagues and friends and make new connections.

ACT global outreach programs provide financial support through the ACT Endowment fund to enable selected individuals to attend our annual meeting and participate in the College’s educational activities. To learn more about the Endowment and to possibly contribute to this important legacy, visit the Endowment section of the website.

Our focus is providing exceptional in-person courses, on-demand virtual eLearning opportunities, as well as topical webinars and podcasts throughout the year for members and nonmembers alike. We also offer a comprehensive preparatory course in toxicology for those intending to take the American Board of Toxicology examination and become a certified Diplomate in Toxicology (DABT).

Through our online platform, interACT, ACT members can access other member contact information, read past issues of the ACT quarterly newsletter, ACTimes, learn about career development programs, and explore new career possibilities at the online Career Center. New this year, we will be rolling out a Learning Management System as an improved platform for delivering educational content that will allow members to engage with content, manage educational needs, and track their training records.

ACT also seeks to advance the field of applied toxicology by contributing to scientific literature. Our official journal, the International Journal of Toxicology, publishes timely manuscripts on contemporary issues in toxicology. If you are interested in submitting a manuscript or subscribing to the Journal, check out the Journal section of the website. Members enjoy complimentary access to this valuable resource.

Consider becoming an active participant in our vibrant membership community by volunteering to join one of the numerous committees, subcommittees or working groups supporting a broad variety of initiatives. Both elected and appointed positions are available providing an opportunity to build your professional reputation and to work collaboratively with your colleagues in support of ACT’s mission: Educate, Lead, and Serve.

Questions? Explore the FAQs in the Membership section or contact ACT Headquarters any time. We are here to help you maximize the value of your ACT membership.

Whatever your goals in toxicology — networking, career development, education, or getting published — we are confident that you will find what you need in the American College of Toxicology.

Sincerely,

Patricia C. Ryan
2025—2026 ACT President
