The Baltimore Museum of Art, Walters Art Museum, the American Visionary Art Museum, 33 Art Center, and Enoch Pratt Library are all free to the public. Don’t forget to explore the Station North Arts and Entertainment district, which was the first Arts and Entertainment district in Baltimore, now serving as a national model. You can also make a stop at the resting place of Edgar Allen Poe, or uncover the beauty of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

History

Baltimore is no stranger to rich history. Visit Federal Hill to see the recently renovated historic marketplace, Cross Street Market, considered the neighborhood’s social hub. The B&O Railroad Museum allows you to see, touch, hear and explore the most important railroad collection in America. Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine—this coastal, star shaped fort is best known for its role in the War of 1812, by successfully defending the Baltimore Harbor against an attack by the British navy. You can even tour historic ships like the USS Constellation, USS Torsk, USCGC Taney, the Lightship Chesapeake, and more!

Shopping

HarborPlace, is located on the waterfront and houses dozens of stores and restaurants, continues to rank number one in Baltimore’s Business Journal’s list of most popular tourist attractions. Interconnected with HarborPlace is The Gallery, a four-story glass enclosed atrium, filled with retail shops and eateries. If antiquing is more your style, you won’t want to miss Antique Row—the oldest antique district in the United States.

Sports

The Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum houses baseball memorabilia and other sports related exhibits.  For those who enjoy the Preakness Stakes horse races, be sure to stop by the Pimlico Race Course that has hosted the event since 1873. Don’t forget to stop by the M&T Bank Stadium and Oriole Park at Camden Yards to see where the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles call home.

Entertainment

The Baltimore National Aquarium, one of Inner Harbor’s most popular attractions, features an incredible 20,000 animals in award-winning habitats.
