AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TOXICOLOGY

PROPOSALS FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION AND SYMPOSIA

The American College of Toxicology (ACT) is committed to presenting quality Symposia and Continuing Education Courses (CEC) at its Annual Meeting. We invite you to submit outlines for potential courses and symposia for our future meetings of ACT. CECs should be presented with a syllabus of course content. The current Program Chair and Continuing Education Chair will be responsible for screening the proposals submitted. A general outline of requirements is listed below.

1. SUBJECT MATTER: "Cutting edge" Science; New Areas, Concepts, or Data; Novel Methods and Applications.
2. SUBJECT MATTER: Emphasis on quality presentations of current practices in toxicology and the utility of toxicology in addressing public health issues
TOTAL SYMPOSIUM TIME: Three hours or less
SPEAKERS AND PRESENTATIONS: Chairpersons and 4-5 speakers, approximately 30-35 minutes per speaker
FUNDING POSSIBILITIES: Please indicate sources of funding

 SYMPOSIA

  GREAT DEBATE

SUBJECT MATTER: Controversial and timely subjects
TOTAL DEBATE TIME: Approximately one and one-half hours
SPEAKERS AND PRESENTATIONS: Moderator and 2-4 speakers, Moderator presents a brief overview of the topic (5 minutes); Each speaker makes a 15 minute statement (total 30 minutes); Moderator facilitates discussion (45 minutes: Moderator provides summary and conclusions (10 minutes)
FUNDING POSSIBILITIES: Please indicate sources of funding

CONTINUING EDUCATION

SUBJECT MATTER: Emphasis on quality presentations of generally accepted, state-of-the-art knowledge in toxicology; with practical applications
TOTAL COURSE TIME: CE Course - Three and a half hours

Mini-Course - One hour and a half to two hours
SPEAKERS AND PRESENTATIONS: CE Course - Chairperson(s) and 3-4 speakers (syllabus and slide presentation required prior to the meeting)

Mini-Course - Chairperson and 1-2 speakers (syllabus and slide presentation required prior to the meeting)
